Brian Fitzgerald

Brian Fitzgerald is the Senior Advisor for Business Strategy for the Media Education Lab.  For over three decades, Fitzgerald has been a visionary, product creator, and leader at the intersection of digital products, media production, and learning. To the lab, he brings a fresh perspective, along with his expertise on how to bring ideas to life and to market, and how to develop high impact products, businesses, communities and learning experiences. Throughout his career, Fitzgerald has developed consumer digital products that have reached hundreds of millions of people worldwide, has taken products from zero to hundreds of millions of users, and has operated in businesses from start up through billions of revenue. Most recently, he was Co-Founder and CEO of Tinkergarten, a platform, training, content and curriculum company that built an ecosystem of teachers to facilitate novel outdoor play-based learning experiences for kids and families nationwide, and was later acquired by Highlights for Children. Prior to that, he held roles as VP of Product at NYC-based Knewton (a pioneer in AI-driven, adaptive learning), and was the VP/Intrapreneur of Audible Education (acquired by Amazon). Fitzgerald was a key player on the startup team that developed Rocketmail (acquired by Yahoo), and he later launched 50+ Yahoo products in leadership roles in Silicon Valley and London. Deeply committed to Media and AI literacy, Fitzgerald served on the Board of Directors of the Just Think Foundation, a pioneer in the Media Literacy movement. He holds a BA in Entrepreneurship from Babson College and an MA in Instructional Technology from Columbia Teachers College.
