Kelly Mendoza Wins Media Smart Research Award Kelly Mendoza won the 2007 Media Smart Research Award and presented her research in Washington D.C. on March 25, 2008. Jiwon Yoon Wins BEA Research Award Jiwon's paper, "Why Individuals Predisposed to Suicide Gather in Online Suicide Communities in South Korea," won the Young Researcher Award at the Broadcast Education Association (BEA) in Las Vegas April 16-19, 2008. Professional Development Institute for Philadelphia Teachers Staff and faculty of the Media Education Lab offered a day-long staff development program for 30 communication arts teachers in Philadelphia in November, using the Byron Hurt film, Hip Hop: Beyond Beats and Rhymes. |
