Tina Peterson
"Food-Media Literacy, Visual Literacy, and the Accessibility of Instructional Food Media"
This research will determine how people's different levels of understanding about the constructed nature of food images may affect their attitudes and intentions when it comes to trying new recipes.
Jiwon Yoon, "Media Literacy Education to
Promote Cultural Competence and Adaptation among Diverse Students: A
Case Study of North Korean Refugees in South Korea"
This research documents the practice of implementing media literacy education for adolescent refugee youth from North Korea who have immigrated to South Korea. Media literacy education deepens young people's ideas about the complexity of South Korean society, strengthens communication confidence and language skills, and builds critical thinking skills in recognizing how media message represent reality-- in both news and entertainent media.
In honor of Tina's topic, FOOD will be provided: an assortment of sandwiches from Jimmy Johns, with chips and beverages.
